What a segment lead actually does

The job is not evangelism. It's seeding.

A segment doesn't sustain itself until there's enough live argument that an arriving practitioner finds something worth contesting. Getting from zero to that point is the work, and it's mostly writing.

In your first month

Post 5–10 substantive claims in your field, sourced
Reply to anything that's been sitting unanswered for more than a couple of days
Bring in 10–15 practitioners from communities you're already part of

Time commitment: a few hours a week. Most of it is arguing about things you already have opinions on.

Two identities, unlinked

Here's the part that matters, and it's the part most programs like this get wrong.

If you lead a segment, you get a public organizer identity — your real name, usable on LinkedIn, attached to the segment page as its lead. That's the identity that recruits, that speaks about Lysita, that you can put on a CV.

Your debating identity in that segment stays pseudonymous and is not linked to it. Architecturally, not by policy.

This means you can publicly organize a security segment while privately arguing in it about your employer's authentication decisions. The organizer and the arguer are the same person and nobody can demonstrate it.

If you'd rather be public in both, you can opt in. It's not the default, and we won't ask you to.

What you don't get, deliberately

No influence over scoring. Not on your own candor score, not on anyone else's, not on correction market outcomes.
No moderation power. You facilitate. You don't remove arguments or sanction people. That runs through governance, separately.
No governance weight beyond any member's.

This is intentional and we'd rather say it plainly than have you discover it later. The entire value of Lysita is that the record means something. The moment recruiting a hundred people also buys you epistemic authority, the record becomes a popularity measure and we've built the thing we set out to replace.

So the growth incentive and the accuracy incentive are separate currencies here. You are paid in access and standing, never in score.

Terms

Length: 6 or 12 months, renewable by mutual agreement.

A fixed term means neither of us has to have an awkward conversation if it turns out not to fit. It just ends.

Who we're looking for: practitioners who already organize. If you run a user group, chair a conference track, maintain something people depend on, teach the subject, or sit on a professional board — you already have the thing that's hard to acquire.

Debate experience is not required. Domain expertise and an existing audience are.
