How debate entries work
Claims don't get a flat comment thread β they get structured debate entries, split into a "for" column and an "against" column.
- Anyone who's joined the segment can add an entry to either side.
- Entries can be rebutted directly, nesting the reply under the entry it responds to, rather than burying it in a separate flat thread.
- Within each side, entries are sorted by vote weight β the best-supported arguments float to the top of their column.
If a sub-thread gets heated (the site detects a spike in hostility β sentiment, profanity, all-caps), a cooldown can trigger on that specific sub-thread only, not the whole debate. This is deliberate: it stops a losing side from weaponizing hostility to freeze an exchange, without punishing the rest of an otherwise-civil debate for one bad sub-thread.
